direct import
During my purchasing trips to Morocco, I always look for beautiful unique pieces that can fit nicely into our concept. I bid along with the local merchants on the criée berbère of the carpet souks in the heart of Marrakech, which means that most of the intermediate channels are skipped!
handmade
Due to its handwoven and unique nature - irregularities in shape and colour can be expected, and are what adds to the beauty, character and value of the rug.
boucherouite
Unlike other Moroccan rugs, which are typically made from wool, Boucherouite rugs are made from scraps of whatever material is available, including synthetic fabrics from old clothes or even remnants of other rugs. The name Boucherouite comes from the Arabic, “bu sherwit,” meaning “rag,” or “scrap of used clothing." The word speaks to the unremarkable origins of each piece. What makes these upcycled artworks special, however, is the fantastic array of patterns and colors they can contain.
maintenance advice
The boucherouite rug cannot be machine washed.
Cleaning is only possible with vacuuming / whipping and using traditional methods with water and brown soap. Let it dry patiently in the sun.
