Small Boujad Rugs | Purple & Red
100% high quality wool berber rug
Moroccan rugs are hand woven by Berber women of the tribal region specified. Each rug can take a few weeks, even months to complete. The weaving techniques have been passed down through generations. From modern designs to vintage abstract form, this is a way the Berber women carefully preserve their heritage of technique and knowledge, passing down messages in wool from one generation to another creating textiles full of life and charm.
Characteristic of these wool BOUJAD rugs are the asymmetrical lines and patterns. And the beautiful warm colors! The typical pink and orange tones are interspersed with a few contrasting areas of color and, depending on the number of hours under the Moroccan sun, often softened to the most fantastic pastel shades.
Are you going for a bohemian, scandinavian or minimalist interior?

FAIR TRADE
During my purchasing trips to Morocco, I always look for beautiful, unique pieces that fit nicely within our concept. I work with trustworthy suppliers who provide work to hundreds of women in the mountain areas. And I bid with the local merchants on the criée berbère of the carpet souks in the heart of Marrakech, skipping most intermediate channels!
MAINTENANCE ADVICE
Each rug is hand washed and (if necessary) repaired in Morocco before being shipped to Belgium. Any restorations were done by hand by skilled artisans in the traditional methods and with materials to best suit its origins.
Rugs should be vacuumed regularly, and occasionally hung outside in the sunshine and fresh air to freshen them up and get rid of any loose dirt. We recommend only ever using mild soapy water to spot clean your carpet. Chemical cleaners and vintage textiles are definitely not friends - so keep cleaning simple and to the basics.
If your rug is in need of a deeper clean due to spills or wear, contact a professional rug cleaning service in your area.
